QUOTES FOR THE SOUL
“Depression is also smaller than you. Always, it is smaller than you, even when it feels vast. It operates within you, you do not operate within it. It may be a dark cloud passing across the sky, but – if that is the metaphor – you are the sky. You were there before it. And the cloud can’t exist without the sky, but the sky can exist without the cloud.
Of course, clouds can shape-shift and change form. And clouds dissolve into the thinnest air. But the sky remains untouched, unchanged. The sky is still blue. The sun is still in the sky. Nothing fundamental has shifted, when all you can see and feel is shift.
And so, however much it feels like walls are closing in – and however much depression might feel like it is the world, reality – remember this: you’re still here. The feeling is still alive. But so are you. People survive. Every minute. Every day. Sometimes it is all about enduring. And sometimes it is about getting up and going on.
Because whilst the cloud might be here with me now, at some point it will be elsewhere. And I will see the blue sky again. I will feel the sun on my face. I will know joy. And I will know that I’m alive.”

TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR MENTAL HEALTH
Gen Z Mental Health Crisis
Generation Z, often defined as individuals born between the mid-1990s and the early 2010s, has grown up in a world characterized by rapid technological advancements, social media dominance, economic uncertainties, and shifting societal norms. These factors, while offering unprecedented opportunities, have also given rise to a range of stressors and pressures that shape the mental health landscape of this generation. Leading some to declare a Gen Z mental health crisis.
The impact of social media cannot be understated. Gen Z is the first generation to have near-constant exposure to curated online personas and the pressures of cultivating a desirable digital presence. The pursuit of likes, followers, and validation has created an environment where self-esteem is closely tied to online popularity, leading to anxiety, depression, and a distorted sense of self-worth.
Adding to these challenges are the uncertainties that Generation Z faces in the realm of education and employment. Rapid technological advancements and an evolving job market demand new skills and adaptability, placing immense pressure on young adults to succeed academically and professionally. The fear of failure and the weight of future expectations can contribute to anxiety and depression, leading to a decline in overall mental well-being.
So what do we plan to do about it? As much as we can. That’s why we we’re not only trying to bring awareness and change through conversation, but also through guides, action plans, self exams, and other wellbeing activities for adults.
By unraveling the complexities of the Gen Z mental health crisis, we hope to foster awareness, understanding, and meaningful action- hopefully becoming the best self-improvement podcasts for young adults. It is crucial that we address this crisis head-on, destigmatize mental health issues, and create a supportive and inclusive environment that nurtures the mental well-being of our youngest generation.
